Why A Whole Foods Plant Based Diet Is Superior

People often argue about different diets. Which one is better for building muscle? Which one is better for health reason? Which one is better for losing weight?

Well, the science shows that a whole foods plant based diet is far more superior than the rest of them.

We read our reviews, and we know that you want some more facts and knowledge, so this episode is packed with science and truth.

We hope you enjoy it.

High In Vitamins, Minerals, Antioxidants

Fruits and veggies are the highest in vitamins and minerals, which our cells need in order to carry out all of the processes in the human body. In fact, if we do not eat a certain amount of these, we get sick and die. This was discovered way back in 1747 when everyone was getting scurvy and the cure ended up being citrus fruit or a little bit of vitamin C. Antioxidants are particularly relevant because they only come from fruits or veggies, and they fight the process of oxidation in the body which creates free radicals that damage the cells of the body and may lead to cancer.

High In Fiber

97% of Americans are deficient in fiber. On average we get about 15 grams per day, where the minimum is 31.5 grams. Fiber is super important for weight loss for multiple reasons. One reason is it allows you to get rid of waste quicker and easier. Secondly, it causes the stomach to stretch which releases a series of hormones such as Leptin into that makes you feel full. Thirdly, Fiber rich foods are prebiotic. Our gut bacteria feast on these fibers which creates a healthy gut flora.

Low In Saturated Fat

It's been known for a very long time that Saturated Fat can lead to heart disease. This fat raises the LDL or bad cholesterol levels in the blood which allows blockages to form in arteries and elsewhere in the body. According to Harvard, most nutrition experts agree that this should be less than 10% of your calories, but why not 0%? What is the point of risking the intake of saturated fat, when we know it's also worse for the planet and animals as well?

Low In Cholesterol

Again, when we say low, we mean 0. Animal products are the only place to receive cholesterol. Cholesterol in the blood has been linked to heart disease over and over again. This probably isn't news to you. But did you know that we actually need cholesterol? Cholesterol is essential for building the structure of cell membranes in the body. However, our body makes all the cholesterol we need, and we don't need to eat it.

Everything We Need

Common beliefs are that eating plant based will cause you to be short in some area of nutrition like not getting enough protein or vitamins. It makes sense because we are all conditioned to believe that meat and dairy are a main food group and we need them to survive. However, plants contain all 21 amino acids including the essential ones that we need to eat in order to get. We can get more than enough protein from a plant based diet. When I track my protein intake, I usually get at least 65 grams per day which is my RDA, but usually more around 80 grams of protein per day, which is more than enough and I feel great!
